Tablescapes: Q&A One

Serpentine wedding buffet table with color-coded drinksQ: What are some sources for inspiration?

A: Professional wedding photos are amazingly useful. You can see all the elements come together, which is something that many people have trouble visualizing in their heads.

You can find photo galleries on our site, on blogs like Style Me Pretty or on professional photographers’ sites, and presumably on your friends’ Facebook pages as well.

But be forewarned: The breathtaking weddings you’ll come across online can give you a budget-threatening case of envy. Seriously.

Below are some of our favorite sources of inspiration. Now make yourself a bookmark folder and start e-clipping.

One of the benefits of working online is that you can easily share your favorite images with your event rental company, caterer, photographer and event planner.

Trend: Ottomans and lounge seating

lounge-ottoman-willowHere’s a trend we’re loving: Create a lounge area with oversized ottomans for your guests to sit back on and chat.

Use lounge seating to create a cool L.A. vibe or to provide a space for guests between the ceremony and reception (like if they have to wait for chairs to be moved or bride-groom photos to be taken).

New wedding gallery

new-years-eve-weddingIt’s New Year’s Eve in May!

(It seems someone — that’d be me — failed to post a wedding gallery back in January. So here it is now, captured expertly by Suzanne Fogarty Photography.)

Bride and wedding designer Claire Wilbur created a dramatic wedding space with pipe & drape, creating a ceremony backdrop, a buffet and pool-table area and a coat “room.” A large black and white dance floor was the centerpiece of the event for the dance-loving couple and their friends, who filled the floor well past midnight.

We {heart} ribbon

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

orange-steelHave you included ribbon as part of your event decor plan? These are some napkins dolled up for our booth at this weekend’s bridal show at the Lakeway Inn.

We love ribbon because it’s an inexpensive way to add pattern to solid linens and tableware. It can inspire new color combos, too.

Other uses: Cinch a linen around a cocktail table’s stem with ribbon, or layer ribbon over linen sashes to tie tent leg drapes.
